PALNI Open Press seeks volunteer peer reviewers

INDIANAPOLIS—The Private Academic Library Network of Indiana (PALNI) is recruiting volunteer peer reviewers for the PALNI Open Press, which publishes open scholarly, creative, and educational content. Faculty, librarians, staff, and graduate students at all PALNI-supported institutions and beyond are welcome to sign up by completing a brief interest form.

Peer review directly supports the Press's mission of quality open publishing and cost savings for students. Reviewers help shape the resources available to their own students and campuses, provide a valuable service to the academic community, and connect with others writing and working in their areas of interest.

“Peer reviewing is an important aspect of scholarship, and this opportunity gives us a chance to see what others in Indiana are doing in our academic area,” says Jill Noyes, Assistant Professor of Humanities and Communication at Trine University. “Projects are currently underway in the humanities, physics, engineering and more through the PALNI Open Press.”

The Press publishes more than open textbooks. Reviewers are welcome across a wide range of formats, including:

• Articles in academic community, faculty, or student-led journals
• Digital exhibits
• Monographs
• Open Educational Resources (OER) of many types

Reviewers can indicate their subject areas and preferred formats on the interest form, and the Press will follow up when a relevant project is ready for review.
