Governance and Leadership

PALNI is led by a board of directors comprised of leaders from all twenty-four of its supported libraries, as well as an executive director.

Funding

PALNI supported libraries pay annual membership fees that cover the costs to operate and manage the PALNI collaboration and systems. In addition, PALNI has received grant funding over the years to support special initiatives and program development.

Supported Library Contribution

Each institution is required to contribute knowledgeable staff to boards, advisory groups, and task forces, fostering deep collaboration. This shared expertise strengthens skills across all 23 libraries, reduces duplication in problem-solving and planning, and multiplies the value of each school’s investment. Contributions of staff time return twenty-three-fold through working groups, task forces, one-on-one collaborations, conferences, and coordinated efforts led by PALNI staff.

Consortial Leadership

The Board of Directors elects a five-member Executive Committee (EC) with responsibility for the operation of the organization. The PALNI Executive Director acts as an ex officio member of the EC and serves as the main point of contact for external organizations. The PALNI EC includes a rotating Chair, Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, and Past-Chair, and the PALNI Executive Director, and meets in person approximately 6 times each year with additional virtual meetings.
