Organization Chart Description

Private Academic Library Network of Indiana organization chart

The organization chart for the Private Academic Library Network of Indiana consists of five hierarchal categories that exist to meet the needs of the supported institutions. Each categorical level has a relationship with its neighboring level(s).

The Board and Board Strategic Committees and Task Forces sit atop the organization chart. The Board advises the Executive Committee.

The Executive Committee sits directly below the Board on the organization chart. This committee oversees the Executive Director, which exists in and presides over the second level of the hierarchy. 

The Executive Director sits directly below the Executive Committee on the organization chart. The Executive Director serves as Chief Operations Officer and acts on behalf of the PALNI organization under the policy direction and program plan of the Board while reporting to the Executive Committee. The Executive Director oversees three PALNI directors and one Operations Manager.

The three PALNI Directors that sit under the Executive Director on the organization chart are the:

  • Associate Director
  • Strategic Communications Director
  • Scholarly Communications Director

The Operations Manager also sits alongside the directors. A fourth Director, the Knowledge Base and License Manager Librarian, sits below the Associate Director on the organization chart.

The Directors oversee the third categorical level on the organization chart which are half- and quarter-time Coordinators.

The Coordinators sit directly below the directors on the organization chart. Four of the Coordinator roles are led by the Associate Director and fall below that position on the organization chart. They are as follows:

  • Analytics Coordinator
  • Fulfillment Coordinator 
  • Development Coordinators
  • Cataloging Support Coordinator

Sitting laterally among the Coordinators that fall under the Directors are the Information Fluency Coordinators. These roles are led by and report directly to the Executive Director.

One coordinator, the Communications and Support Coordinator, is led by the Strategic Communications Director and falls below that position on the organization chart. 

Two of the Coordinators are led by the Scholarly Communications Director and sit below this position on the organization chart. They are the:

  • PALSave Coordinator
  • Institutional Repository Coordinator

The fourth level on the organization chart consists of Advisory Groups that the directors manage and in which the coordinators work. They are as follows:

  • Analytics sits under the Analytics Coordinator on the organization chart
  • Fulfillment sits under the Fulfillment Coordinator on the organization chart
  • WMS Workflows sits laterally among the Advisory Groups on the organization chart and is led by the Associate Director
  • Instructional Technology sits laterally among the Advisory Groups on the organization chart and is led by the Associate Director
  • Knowledge Base/License Manager sits laterally among the Advisory Groups and below the Information Fluency Coordinators on the organization chart. This area is led by the Knowledge Base License Manager Librarian.
  • Reference, Instruction and Outreach sits below the Information Fluency Coordinators on the organization chart.
  • Scholarly Communications sits below the PALSave Coordinator on the organization chart.

The final level of the organization chart consists of Admin Teams and Experts. They are as follows:

  • The PALShare Admin Team sits below the Fulfillment Advisory Group on the organization chart.
  • The Institutional RepositoryPALSavePALNI Digital Admin, and Publishing Services Admin Teams sit below the Scholarly Communications Advisory Group on the organization chart. 
  • Collections Management sits laterally among the Admin Teams on the organization chart and is led by the Institutional Repository Coordinator.

The Experts box sits laterally among the Admin Teams on the organization chart and sits below the WMS Workflows Advisory Group. The Experts box includes four areas of foci. They are as follows:

  • Discovery
  • Circulation
  • KB/License 
  • Tech Services
