INDIANAPOLIS—Three
PALNI Open Press projects were featured among nearly 40 highlighted by the Library Publishing Coalition (LPC) during the inaugural Library Publishing Showcase Week, held February 23–27, 2026. The week-long celebration showcased the creativity, innovation, and impact of library publishing programs.

Hosted by the Private Academic Library Network of Indiana, the PALNI Open Press empowers PALNI-supported institutions to share scholarly, creative, and educational content through open-access publishing. By supporting the creation of journals, textbooks, monographs, and digital exhibits, it helps its institutions advance teaching, learning, and research without the costs of platform maintenance.

The Press’s three featured publications included:

“We’re thrilled to see PALNI Open Press projects recognized during Library Publishing Showcase Week,” said Amanda Hurford, PALNI Scholarly Communications Director. “Library publishing gives our communities the tools to share scholarship widely, foster collaboration, and make research and creative work accessible to everyone. This recognition reflects the talent of PALNI faculty and students and highlights the important role libraries play in advancing open, equitable scholarship.”

Library Publishing Showcase Week highlighted how library publishing supports authors, students, researchers, and scholarly communities. Participants featured by LPC were selected from submissions across the LPC community, reflecting the breadth of innovative work in library publishing. The week coincided with the launch of the new library publishing advocacy website, Library Publishing Creates, which hosts Showcase Week content and will continue as a hub for resources and inspiration across the LPC community and beyond.

The impact of library publishing was also emphasized by Showcase Week organizers.

“Library Publishing Showcase Week celebrates the innovation, creativity, and impact of library publishing programs everywhere,” said Showcase Week co-chairs Jessica Kirschner, Digital Publishing Coordinator at VIVA, Virginia’s Academic Library Consortium, and Molly Reed, Strategic Communications Director at PALNI. “We’re thrilled to spotlight projects that expand access, amplify diverse voices, and show how libraries are shaping the future of scholarship.”
